Nancy and Nick opted to leave the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives in New York City this July to tie the knot in a very personal beach wedding on Hilton Head Island, S.C. The couple said their “I do’s” at the groom’s mother’s home on the beach and then headed to the Harbour Town Yacht Club to celebrate.
Keeping their wedding personal was important to Nancy and Nick. The couple arranged for their guests to sit in a circle rather than traditional aisles. At the center of the circle the couple stood under the alter accompanied by the officiant. Various friends and family members stood and read favorite poems and passages during the service. It was a very intimate event that those closest to the couple were able to participate in.
Another unique touch was the bowl they filled with water and asked each family member to place an individual flower in it to be tossed into the ocean at the end of the ceremony. When the bride and groom did this it represented the uniting of the two families.
Rather than opting for a bouquet, Nancy simply carried one single sunflower down the aisle, which is Nick’s favorite flower.
They opted for an array of orchids (cymbidium, purple, dendrobum and white) along with blue and white hydrangeas to compliment the sunflowers at the reception.
Bloomin’ Bouquets loved being a part of this unique wedding and encourages all couple’s out there to add their own personal touches to the big day!
