Lauren + Michael were married at a picturesque church in downtown Dahlonega after the ceremony they celebrated at the equally stunning winery Montaluce. Lauren wanted her bouquet to be unique.   We were able to achieve Lauren's vision by making King Protea the focal point and keeping the stems long, creating the unique look she had envisioned.

Greenery, Color of the Year

Greenery, the 2017 Pantone color of the year and an absolute favorite here at Bloomin’, also just happens to be a great color foundation for your wedding day. Greenery makes any setting more lush and enhances personals just the same. There are more creative ways to add green into your wedding than the usually runner - all greenery boutonnieres are a sweet touch to add to a handsome suit or tux (by the way, if your looking for a great place to rent a suit or tux check out The Black Tux, you wont be disappointed). Added greenery at a ceremony or reception can make you feel like your outside, without actually having to be. Lastly, adding springs of greenery to each guest place setting or escort cards is a fun and interesting way use greenery on your wedding day.

“The Truth About the Bridal Bouquet & Other Wedding Traditions”

There is something special about traditions. Knowing your parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents incorporated the same tradition into their weddings years before you makes a your wedding all that more special and personal. While, every bride is unique, there are several traditions we see time and time again, passed down generation to generation.

Brides traditionally stand to left of their groom for a reason that dates back centuries. "Marriage by capture," according to Mr. Specktor from Reader’s Digest, was a common practice. A groom would literally steal his bride from her home. The groom would hold his bride with his left hand leaving his right for a sword fight if necessary.

Bridal Bouquets, our favorite wedding tradition, have changed quite a bit over the years. Back in the day of the Great Plague bridal bouquets traditionally were made of herbs like garlic and dill to fight off disease. Luckily, medicine has improved and brides no longer need to cover themselves in garlic and vinegar to be healthy on their wedding day. Instead, brides opt for much better smelling roses or peony, thank goodness!

The classic white wedding dress was first popularized by Queen Victoria. Before the Queen, British nobility was know to wear flashy silver and gold embroidered fabric on their wedding day. Queen Victoria chose to go in a different direction. She wore an extravagant white gown embellished lace with flowers, we like her style, to stand out in the crowd of silver and gold.

Vena amoris, the vein on the fourth finger on the left hand, traditionally know as the ring finger, was believed to connect directly to the heart. Turns out all veins in the human hand connect to the heart but hey, it makes for a beautiful tradition.

The Art of Love Styled Shoot

(Photography by: Lindsey LaRue)

The morning of a wedding can be the most precious time for the bride to connect with her family and friends. So when Melissa, founder of eMBee Events, came to Bloomin’ with the The Art of Love styled shoot we fell in love with her idea to draw focus to these special moments. The shoot was an intimate look into the brides morning before she takes her vows. The bride’s bouquet consisted of soft ivories, pinks, and greenery with pops of cabernet. Our bridesmaids bouquets were a reflection of their individual necklaces, given to them by the bride, to show her appreciation for their support in the past, that day, and the years to come. Each bridesmaid wore a different element. Basil, symbolizing love; Carrot, health; Chili Pepper, strength; and Olive, peace. While incorporating the elements into the bouquets proved to be a challenge we loved what each element symbolized and were thrilled to be a part of such a special shoot.

Bespoke Bride Feature

(Photography by: Claire Diana)

We shared a blog not too long ago of a styled shoot we did with Love Gives Way and why it is important to us. We were excited to see that Bespoke Bride also wrote a blog about the styled shoot last week where our work was featured, but more importantly, just as their title says it- how we can defeat sex trafficking through radical love. It is definitely worth your time to read it and see how you can be a part of something bigger than the wedding industry itself.

Billy + Christina

(Planning by: Lemiga)

Billy + Christina had a wedding that was filled with so many Atlanta icons. From their wedding reception held at Ventanas overlooking the Atlanta skyline to table centerpieces with iconic Atlanta locations. We love the opportunity to work at Ventanas because of its natural light, open space, and it showcases our city! We are seeing that most of our weddings this year are featuring almost all gold décor. However, in using such bright pops of color with this bright red protea for Billy & Christina’s wedding, it was fun to incorporate some copper votives that blended all the colors so well.

There are so many photos from Henry + Caroline's wedding that we want to share. They are just too beautiful not to, so expect to see them making their appearance here & there. We always love when we get to work at Legacy Lookout through Foxhall beacause of its natural colors and textures. We are able to incorporate such a neutral color palette that blends with the venues natural elements. We loved the opportunity to drape florals from the chandeliers and decorate the fireplace inside making it stand out beautifully. This wedding was definitely a romantically beautiful one that we were thankful to have helped design!

Southern Weddings Feature

(Planning by: Molly McKinley Designs)

We are thrilled to finally be able to share Patrick + Allison's wedding from the fall of last year that was featured on Southern Weddings last week. This wedding was breathtaking and full of lush florals. One of our favorite parts was that the bride and groom wrote a personalized note to each guest that was placed at their place setting for the reception. They truly took time to make their day memorable not only for themselves, but all their loved ones attending as well. To see more photos and read about their day, visit the Southern Weddings feature here.

Preston + Sierra both graduated from Georgia Tech and had so much fun taking pictures on Bobby Dodd field the day of their wedding. Their reception at the Southern Exchange downtown was so elegantly detailed with beautiful gold decor. Having vaulted 30’ ceilings, hanging chandeliers, and marble floors this reception space offered quite an elegant evening for guests. We loved being a part of their wedding day and wish them both a lifetime of beauty and happiness.

Robert + Jordan

(Photography by: Lauren Carnes)
(Planning by: Wrennwood Design)

Robert + Jordan's wedding might be one the prettiest weddings in our history of weddings. The delicacy of this wedding is unmatched from the soft greys and blushes to the lightness and openness of their venue, the Foundry. Our jaws dropped when we saw these photos from Lauren Carnes and her eye to bring the intangible to life. What a stunning day this was. This wedding was also recently featured on Carats & Cake here, so take a look for more photos as well as checking out Laurens blog.
